Held out on tuning my car for quite a while, and finally gave in. Being limited to 91 octane gas in California I wasn’t expecting huge power gains, but was very pleasantly surprised at just how much more Scott was able to get out of the car even on 91 octane… it’s a huge difference compared to the stock tune. The car was fun with the stock tune, it’s *really* fun now. Scott’s tune has less knock retard at WOT than the stock tune did, and more power too! Very smooth, OEM like driveability with lots more power available when you put your foot in it.
Of course, the usual issue of high pressure fuel pump dropoff in the mid-RPM range limited the amount of boost that was able to be safely added in those mid-RPM ranges, but that will be rectified soon as soon as the LPFP & fuel lobe camshaft arrives and Scott can add more mid range boost back into the tune without running out of fuel pump capability. The car is safe with the current tune as with the current boost level targets there is only a very slight “dip” in rail pressure, but I’d rather be 100% safe and take care of the underlying mechanical issue of being on the ragged edge of fuel pump flow capability. As an added bonus adding more flow capability to the fuel system also means more power will be available in the mid-RPM ranges!
Enough about the tune, now about Scott. I’ve dealt with other remote tuners before on other platforms and have suffered from a lack of knowledge (ask my neighbor about the two cracked pistons on his sand rail thanks to an “expert” remote tuner) and have also had to deal with long delays in communication and receiving tune revisions with other tuners. Scott is very prompt responding to emails with concerns or more datalogs, and is very quick when it comes to turning around a tune revision. Even when he apologizes and says he’s busy and it may be the next day before he gets back to me, another tune revision always seemed to appear in my email a few hours later. We went back and forth a few times on my tune trying to accommodate a few requests I had and he was more than willing to look into the issue and send revisions to make the car drive to my liking. Scott takes the time to tweak the tune for your specific desires and what your car wants and is capable of delivering.
Highly recommended… wish I had tuned it a year ago!
