A big and healthy shoutout to Scott, Jorge & Michael with Tapout Tuning for advancing my vehicle to the next level: Brown Belt status. For my ’17 at 50k miles (daily driven with HPDE sessions, sees snow and sub-zero temps), it needed maintenance in addition to me being unsatisfied with 617 whp. Well-made & sourced parts, knowledgeable advice, expert service/tuning/installation and a world-class brick-and-mortar facility all led to a satisfying experience and a result of 720whp (E60 w/ pre-turbo meth). Ever since I had my ’97 GTP in high school, I’ve been talking with Scott Cook about performance upgrades but had gone other routes as far as installation and tuning. When I purchased my V nearly 7 years ago (at a similar time Scott bought his), we rekindled our car talk. It only took ~20 years for me to finally hand him the keys and go nuts. In that time, he and his team have mastered techniques and methods of operation that lead to success (and trophies). There are others out there that offer for this platform, and that is fantastic as it only helps further what we all can accomplish. But ask where the knowledge base and R&D for most of those parts and tuning protocols come from, and it is a safe bet that Scott had something to do with it (case in point, the ATI super damper, where he worked relentlessly with ATI to get it made). Perfection is unlikely to be a destination, but more-so a journey. To have a build of this nature is to invite challenges. But let us be honest, having challenges is a big part of the fun when it comes to having ‘the mod bug’. The ‘Purple Belt’, I’ll recommend to be the pinnacle of street-ability. For those who crave an extreme edge, that is where the Brown Belt will scratch your itch. And lastly, the journey of driving your vehicle to Plain City, Ohio is an experience in itself. LOTS of corn field roads for ‘testing’, just don’t expect impressive football (GO BLUE)
