Where do I start? When I contacted Scott about tuning my V, I was very hesitant about the entire process, especially since I never tuned a car before. After talking to Scott, my mind was at ease and I purchased his tune. The only thing I can say is WOW!!! Scott typically got back to me within 5 minutes of me sending him an email or a new scan and was extremely professional while doing it. Scott has top tier customer service and even higher tier tunes! I will recommend this service to anyone! If you’re like me and are hesitant about tuning with Scott, have no more fear and be prepared to unlock BEAST MODE on your V!
New Faith Found
After losing faith in the quality of work performed by my dealer’s performance shop, I started to question the safety characteristics of my dyno tune. Knowing several friends that had their ATS-V’s tuned by Tapout, I reached out Scott with my concerns. Before purchasing a remote tune, Scott asked me to send him a copy of my tune and a few logs. Upon reviewing, Scott noted several issues, two of which were alarming.
First, the ECM was not reacting to throttle input appropriately. The screenshot below illustrates a full-throttle attempt 33 mph. However, the ECM didn’t open the throttle to 100% until the car hit 58 mph.
Next, and of great concern to me, the previous tuner completely disabled the knock retard and intercooler protections as illustrated below.
Knowing that my car was not adequately protected, I had hesitations taking it to the track, let alone driving it at all. I immediately decided that the car needed a retune with the safety of the engine being my primary concern.
Within about two hours of purchasing my remote tune, Scott sent me the initial baseline tune. Over one week, I received a total of three tunes that not only left the knock and intercooler protections in place. I felt the increased performance and responsiveness. Additionally, the shift points were dialed in, and my desire to drive the car was at an all-time high.
When Scott announced the introduction of two new features, Lean Cruise Mode and the ability to bypass Cadillac’s max boost limit at startup. I reached back out, and within minutes, I received an updated tune file. I’ll let the log speak for itself. The following screenshot illustrates that at WOT, the air/fuel ratio is within one to two percent of perfect across the board using 93 octane from Costco.
Getting my car retuned by Tapout was by far the investment that I put in my vehicle. And believe me, there’s been a lot of money put into this thing. If you’re new the ATS-V or have a tune from another company, do yourself a favor and send a log file or two over to Scott. You’ll be pleasantly surprised with the results and professionalism that Scott and Tapout bring to the table.

Just wanted to take a second and give credit where it is due. Scott has been nothing but amazing to work with. His knowledge on this platform is light years ahead of anyone around but what has impressed me the most is how awesome of a guy he is and his response time and customer service is second to none. Thanks again Scott. You’re the man!
Long Trip, Well Rewarded
I can’t say enough good about Scott and his dedication to helping his customers get the best tune. My case was especially challenging. I bought a used 2016 ATS-V, and after a few efforts at tuning, it became obvious that something was amiss about my car. Turns out that a previous service person hadn’t reconnected a hose that was crucial to the motor. After finding that — with Scott’s help — we were on the path. Maybe.
I had installed a meth injection kit, and it took a long time to get it to work dependably. Now it does, and the car runs great! I can’t imagine how many hours Scott has spent on getting my car right. His responses were very quick, and his attitude was patient and encouraging. Almost unbelievable!
I’m off to the dyno this week, expecting a bit over 500 RWHP — with no modifications other than the tune and the meth.
Stay…uh…tuned.

Boost Mode Enabled
I can definitely say that working with Scott has been the best choice that I have made. There are many shops around, that do great things, however I was very skeptical of taking the Caddy to a shop that wasn’t familiar with these cars. As well, I was skeptical of doing a mail order tune. It was a tough decision to say the least on how I wanted to proceed.
Regardless, after countless hours and days of research, and talking to many shops that basically said ‘yeah, a car is a car’, I came across a whole lot of articles about Scott and Tapout. I emailed a few shops back and forth for a couple of weeks trying to figure out when I could get my car in for a dyno and tuning, many to which simply went unanswered. You would think if someone reaches out with a car like ours, you would at least respond, but nah five minutes in an email is tough for people.
I emailed Scott, just asked a couple questions and see what he was about. Amazingly, I got a response in about ten minutes. Very polite, direct, and humble that I reached out. Throughout the tuning Scott has been nothing but helpful, knowledgeable, and most of all responsive. Needless to say the car with basic Tapout Remote Tune is a monster now! Tapout Takeover for sure! I will definitely be continuing business with Scott, and maybe even trying some different angles with the car down the road with his help. I wouldn’t recommend anyone else for the car.
