Scott has been my tuner (I believe I was his very first or maybe second customer) since May of 2018 after he had spent 10 years of setting drag racing records tuning and driving Pontiacs along w/ his brother Bob. He told me he needed a new challenge. Having tried other tuners the first 6 months I owned my 2016 ATS-V (w/ crappy results we won’t go into) I contacted Scott Cook at Tapout Tuning and asked him to tune my LF4 and have never regretted that decision or looked back. My ATS-V has been my daily driver since day one and now has 201,688 miles of Tapout tuned miles on the clock. Previous testing at Tapout HQ in November of 2022 showed my OEM valve springs had become worn out and I was losing HP after about 5500 RPM. Scott suggested a new set of Tapout Valve Springs along w/ a set of performance cams I had Jorge slip in during the operation. I was making a trip from my home in Florida to Ohio anyway and Scott squeezed me into his schedule during the last week of May 2024. Tapout is fortunate to employ Jorge Munoz who is recognized in our community as the THE top LF4 mechanic. ( I moved from Ohio to Florida w/ plans to use Jorge as my LF4 go-to tech and Jorge promptly moved to Ohio….go figure). After a two day stay at Tapout HQ Scott and Jorge had my car strapped on the Dynojet and after about 5 or 6 WOT pulls Scott had recovered the 50 HP I had lost due to the worn out valve springs but added an additional 50 or so after 5500 RPM. My car is a beast once again and I couldn’t be happier w/ the results. In case you missed it my car has 201,688 miles on it and has posted a 10.505 at 134 mph in 2023 at the Cadillac Attack Event at that time I had 186,000 on the clock. That in its self has to be a World Record. I hopefully will head to the track tomorrow w/ a plan to set a personal best 1320 of 10.25@137. Outstanding Service
I am absolutely amazed with the quick response and quality of tapout tuning. Coming from several platforms and finally to a ct5v bw and ct4v bw i can officially say you guys have the greatest service I’ve ever seen. I spoke to Scott on a weekend and got parts which weren’t even your mistake sent to make up for it. (Note: I did end up contacting Green Filters and they sent me a replacement filter and kit free and overnighted it as well. All i really cared for was the blackwing sticker to shove on my laptop next to the tapout tuning sticker.) Absolutely the best quality and response I’ve seen especially since i didn’t notice Scotts email until i got home and saw the package.

What a huge difference, bought the car used and stuff was done to it but never drove quite right. Called Tapout and Scott and Michael were very helpful before I even made a purchase. Telling me things to try etc, and ended up purchasing a remote tune from them. They were quick with their responses and in constant communicating through the whole process. A couple data logging drives and the tune they came up with for me completely changed the whole car. The car is so much smoother in every way and really woke up. Thanks guys!
2019 ATS-V
Scott took the time over the weekend to ensure the new tune in my 2019 ATS-V was safe and making power. I had various issues with some electrical plugs I forgot to secure, and using the incorrect layout to record my scans, but we worked it out and had everything wrapped up in one day. Car is brutally quick and the burble sound is pretty neat. This is my second ATS-V tuned by Scott.10/10 recommend!
Ignore the Noise! Tapout Tuning is legit!
After doing all my own work on the performance cars I have owned over the years, capitalism threw a wrench in those plans for the Blackwing. With a car that’s on the cutting-edge of technology, vendors like to keep a tight grip on things as they figure stuff out. This leads to these vendors only allowing certain reputable shops access to their parts and services. While Global B is self-adjusting allowing owners to install ported superchargers and lids, throttle bodies and exhaust systems, you eventually hit the end of the allowable window that the ECU will let you go – I was at this point. After taking the car to Late Model Performance in Maryland to have them install their expansion tank and heat exchanger and do a pull on their dyno to see where the car was at, it was clear that at 680hp to the wheels and 13.0 AFRs, I couldn’t go any further without tuning. I stayed behind the scenes for a few months doing my research to decide what shop I wanted to put my trust in. During this research period I was exposed to the common nut-swingers and the he said she said drama talking about shops blowing up this person’s car and that person’s car…..but it was all hearsay – none of it came from the horses mouth, ever! Any negative reference and accusations towards tapout was crickets from the defendant’s/tapout’s side. All I could see was the great results they had already made in their youtube videos, a very close and positive relationship with HP Tuners, and the fact that they were an authorized shop allowed to sell and install proprietary parts from vendors such as DSX Tuning. My mind was made up. The goal was to give Hennessey a run for their/his money and do a full build utilizing my already x-ported Kong lt4 supercharger. Tapout made this happen at about half the cost of Hennessey. I dropped my car off on a Friday and three days later I get a facebook messenger photo of my motor already out of the car! I was honestly amazed at how fast everything progressed from there. Even with the few changes I decided to make to the build halfway through like adding an Aux fuel pump and an ATI overdrive damper, they adapted and got it done quick!! I have to say they knocked it out of the park! My car is an A10 with a big cam that could probably use a 3k stall but Scott was able to dial in the drivability of the car on the stock torque converter damn near perfectly! Zero stalling, zero hard starts, zero lunging forwards or backwards shifting to drive or reverse. Just a little bit of rocking back and forth at idle (which I think is an awesome feeling – just letting the car sit there and rumble letting you know its ready to EAT) and some SLIGHT bucking when allowing the car to propel itself from a stop under idle engine rpm. Cruising down the interstate is a perfect experience and you’d never know the car wasn’t stock but that all changes QUICK when you press the accelerator pedal. To be honest, I don’t even know what my car is capable of because it’s been very cold and I’m on the stock ps4 summer tires. All I know is I lost traction instantly from a 90MPH roll when I went 100% throttle during the drive home from tapout and the car would have never done that before. Needless to say this spring and summer are going to be a blast!!! Thanks to Scott, Jorge, and Michael at tapout for an awesome experience. Jorge is a very skilled mechanic when it comes to the V platform, Michael’s organizational, project management and marketing skills are stellar, and Scott’s tuning knowledge in the new Global B system is off the charts!! A+ guys!!
