Description
ATS-V Circle D Torque Converter
We worked with Circle D to develop a Pro Series 258 mm. torque converter specifically for the ATS-V. Some converter companies take the cheap way out and change impeller angles dramatically. This loosens up the converter and reduces overall efficiency across the entire power band. Circle D has developed a CFD-designed billet stator to manipulate the stall speed and coupling points. Their design also includes a custom billet steel front cover, triple lockup clutch, billet apply piston, heat treated steel splines, and furnace brazed/hand TIG welded fins.
Expect flash stall speed to be approximately 4,000 rpm. Full streetability and lockup features are retained, making this converter ideal for street and/or strip use.
The original bolts are single use. GM recommends replacing them when changing the torque converter, so we include new bolts and Loctite. The washers are to be used as shims (if needed) and are included standard in the generic Circle D bolt pack. The bolts themselves are a flanged style so no need for anything under-head. Just make sure converter clearance is around 1/8″ to 3/16″ during install. If so, neither of the flat washers would be used. Torque specifications are 50 foot-pounds.
This torque converter upgrade does not require a retune after installation.
What will my ATS-Vs drivability be like after installing a Circle D torque converter?
Under light throttle driving, including cruising, you won’t feel any difference at all compared to stock. That’s because our higher stall converters still maintain the full lockup feature.
At WOT in lower gears, your engine speed will ramp up much quicker, and spool your turbos harder and faster.
