Mr. X was working with another tuner when his stock turbos destroyed themselves. So he took the opportunity to replace them with some aftermarket ones, but unfortunately, the same thing happened two weeks later. And this time, the impellers went through the engine and destroyed everything in their path.
At that point, Mr. X decided to make the switch to Tapout Tuning, and when we looked things over in person, we realized the damage was catastrophic. We pulled the tune that was currently in his ATS-V to see if there were any clues as to what could have caused this failure. Upon checking out the previous tuners work, we saw that they had completely maxed out the turbocharger wastegate duty cycle table. This no doubt led to the turbos spinning fast enough that they destroyed themselves.
We replaced the long block assembly and Mr. X upgraded to our Caddy Issues turbos. After proper break-in time we put his ATS-V on the dyno so we could dial things in. Final results were a beautiful powerband all the way to 7,000 rpm with peak power of 691 whp while still running OEM compressor inlets. This is one fast M6 ATS-V!
