Johnny was at the Tapout shop last summer for us to complete a Purple Belt Performance Package on his ATS-V. At that time, we noticed that power dropped off pretty hard on the top end. We’ve seen this before and it’s a telltale sign of weak valve springs. We reduced his RPM range to eliminate any unnecessary strain, and the car still made excellent power.
Fast-forward to this summer and Johnny was back to upgrade to the Mace Stage 1 camshafts and valve springs. Peak power increased by 12 whp and top end power gains were HUGE at 79 whp! Not only that, it was 102 degrees in the shop when we completed this dyno tuning.
