Description
We start with an LF4 engine core. It is disassembled, hot tanked and inspected. Then the block resurfaced and precision honed. The crankshaft is made from a very high grade of stainless steel. It is replaced if necessary. Then chamfered and polished. All new GM coated main bearings are installed. The connecting rods are Pankl titanium and replaced as necessary, then all new OEM connecting rod bolts and coated rod bearings are installed.
Diamond Racing forged coated pistons and Total Seal ring sets are installed. The rotating assembly is precision balanced.
The cylinder heads are disassembled, cold tanked and soda blasted. They are then resurfaced, ported and polished, and a multi-angle valve job is performed. Custom ARP head studs are installed and new AC Delco MLS head gaskets are used. Tapout valve springs, titanium retainers, new valve seals, valve locks, and a full set of billet high duration camshafts are installed. The long block is assembled with all new AC Delco gaskets and seals.
LF long blocks do not include turbochargers, starter, alternator, air conditioning compressor, fuel injectors or spark plugs. LF4 long blocks use the same GM part number for both A8 and M6 applications. However, the oil pans are different for each transmission type. You will need to check your oil pan. If it’s different, swap your original one onto the new long block prior to installation.
You can also option one of our Modified ATS-V Turbo sets. These will be installed on the engine with new gaskets and seals.
GM’s price for stock LF4 long blocks is $11,211. Including more than $4,000 in parts upgrades alone, the Tapout long block assemblies provide an excellent value for the price. We do not assess a core charge for these long blocks, and we do not need your old engine in return. Initial shipping charge will be $700 flat rate, via YRC Freight. If it costs more or less to ship to your location, we will bill or credit you for the difference.
